Beliefs

God

We believe that there is one living and true God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe that these are equal in every perfection and that they execute distinct but harmonious offices in the work of creation, providence, and redemption. We believe that the triune God is the Creator of all things visible and invisible and that a belief in this truth is necessary to understand the meaning and purpose of all reality.

God the Father

We believe in God, the Father—an infinite, personal spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power, and love. We believe that He concerns Himself justly and mercifully in the affairs of mankind, that He hears and answers prayer, and that He saves from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ

We believe in the preexistence and deity of our Lord Jesus Christ; in his incarnation through the Virgin Mary; and in his full humanity. We believe in his sinless, obedient life, the reality of his recorded miracles, and in forgiveness of sin through his atoning death on our behalf. We believe in his bodily resurrection, his ascension to the Father, and his present ministry at the right hand of the Father. We believe in his personal visible return to earth as King of kings and Lord of lords.

The Holy Spirit

We believe in the Holy Spirit who came forth from the Father and Son to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment, and to regenerate, sanctify, and empower all who believe in Jesus Christ. We believe that every believer is indwelt by the Holy Spirit, baptized by the Spirit into the Body of Christ and equipped by the Spirit with various spiritual gifts. We believe that it is the will of God that every believer be empowered, or filled, with the Holy Spirit for effective service.

The Scriptures

We believe the Bible, the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testament—as written in their original manuscripts—to be the inspired, infallible, authoritative Word of God, and that it has supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.

Humanity

We believe that God created man as male and female in his own image. We believe that each person has infinite worth and is accountable to his Creator.

Salvation

We believe that all mankind are sinners by nature and by choice and are, therefore, under condemnation. We believe that only those who repent of their sins and trust in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord are regenerated for eternity by the Holy Spirit through God’s grace alone.

The Church

We believe in the universal church, a living spiritual body of which Christ is the head and all regenerated persons are members. We believe in the organization of believers into local churches for regular worship, work, and fellowship. We believe that God has laid upon the members of the local church the primary task of taking the Gospel of Jesus Christ to a world of lost people.

The Ordinances

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ has committed two ordinances to the local church: baptism and the Lord’s Supper. We believe that baptism is administered to believers in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. We believe that the Lord’s Supper was instituted by Christ to commemorate his sacrifice for our sins and his creation of one body, the Church. We believe that these two ordinances should be observed and administered until the return of the Lord Jesus Christ.

The Christian Life

We believe that God calls every believer to a life of good works and spiritual freedom; to service to the church and community; and to separation unto God’s will and away from evil. We believe in the sanctity of the home, purity in sexual relationships, the sacredness of human life, the necessity of demonstrating the fruit of the Spirit and a Christ-like character, and the importance of a life of prayer, Bible study, Christian fellowship, and personal witness.

Satan

We believe in the existence of the Devil as a distinct, created personal being, the great adversary of God and his people. We believe in Satan’s defeat through Jesus Christ’s sacrifice on the cross resulting ultimately in his eternal judgment.

The Last Things

We believe in the personal and visible return of our Lord Jesus Christ to earth to join his church with himself, to defeat evil and to establish his rule as King of kings and Lord of lords. We believe in the resurrection of the body, the final judgment, the eternal joy of believers, and the endless suffering of the wicked. We believe that this truth should lead Christians to live godly, productive lives in the present world and to eagerly await his appearing.
